TikTok Shop Seller Center Registration: Email Step and Onboarding
Opening a TikTok Shop starts with a Seller Center account. Registration asks for an email address or a phone number, confirms it with a code, and then moves on to the part that takes real time: business details, documents and a bank account. This guide walks through that sequence so you know what to prepare before you start, and where the email step ends.
How Seller Center registration is laid out
| Stage | What Seller Center asks for | How it is checked |
|---|---|---|
| Account | An email address or a phone number, plus a password | A code by email, or by SMS for a phone |
| Business type and shop | Individual seller or a registered business, depending on the market, plus the shop information | Your choice |
| Identity | A national ID or passport for individuals; a business license or company documents for companies | Document review |
| Payouts | A bank account whose details match the documents | Review |
| Products | Your first listings | After approval |
Each market has its own Seller Center (for example seller-vn.tiktok.com for Vietnam), and the exact documents differ by country. Some markets also ask for tax details. Questions about business registration or tax belong with an adviser or the local authorities; OTPGmail gives no advice on them.
Email or phone: the first choice
The registration screen offers both. A phone number gets the code by SMS. An email address gets it by email, and that address becomes the account's contact for order, policy and payout notices. Choose email if you want the shop's sign-in and mail kept apart from a personal inbox.
One rule shapes the planning: TikTok Shop asks for an email or phone number that has not been used for another TikTok Shop. If you run stores for several clients, give each shop its own address from the start.
The 6-digit code, and when it does not come
After you enter the email and press Send code, Seller Center emails a 6-digit verification code. It expires quickly, and any newer code you request replaces the previous one, so use the latest.
When no email shows up, the cause is usually on the registration page itself:
- A captcha or another check stopped the session. A session held at that point never sends the email. Complete the check, then request the code.
- The address has a typo. Paste it rather than typing it.
- Too many resends. Ask once more, then wait; each new request cancels the code before it.
- The address is already in use. Seller Center will say so. Cancel the rental before any code arrives for a full refund, then use a different address for this shop.
Business type, documents and bank account
Once the code is accepted, Seller Center asks what kind of seller you are, an individual or a registered business with the options your market offers, and for the shop information. Then comes identity verification, where the application is reviewed:
- Take a sharp photo of the ID or business document. An unreadable photo is a common reason for rejection.
- Make sure the name and details match the bank account you add for payouts. Mismatched applications are rejected, however quickly the email step went.
- Have a phone number ready. Sellers usually need a local number for order notifications, separate from the email used to register.
After approval you can list products. None of these steps goes through the email code, so having the documents ready before you start saves time.
Seller Center is not your TikTok account
Three things are easy to mix up:
- A Seller Center account runs the shop: orders, products, payouts.
- A business profile in the TikTok app is a setting on a regular TikTok account, not a shop.
- TikTok Shop affiliate works through a creator's regular TikTok account. Create that account first, then apply for affiliate inside the app if you meet TikTok's criteria.
If you are setting up a creator or brand account rather than a store, the guide to TikTok accounts for creators and agencies covers that sign-up instead.
Using a rented address for the Seller Center code
A rented inbox handles the email code and nothing after it. Pick the TikTok Shop service on OTPGmail rather than plain TikTok, so Seller Center's emails are recognized, and rent a real @gmail.com or @icloud.com address; the 6-digit code then shows on your order page. In the last 30 days the code arrived on 88% of TikTok Shop orders, typically after about 1 minute. An order with no code is cancelled after 25 minutes and refunded in full. The TikTok Shop rental page has the rental steps and live stock, and agencies opening several client shops can use bulk rental for teams or the API with service code tks.
After approval, change the Seller Center contact email to one you manage. A rented inbox receives codes only during the order period, while order, policy and payout notices keep arriving for the life of the shop. Every shop must follow TikTok Shop's seller policies.
Frequently asked questions
My shop application was rejected after the email step. Is the rental refunded?
No. Once the first code has arrived, the order is complete. The automatic refund covers only an order that receives no code within the waiting time; document review is TikTok Shop's decision.
Can I register with an @icloud.com address?
Yes. Seller Center accepts @icloud.com the same way as @gmail.com, and iCloud inboxes are usually cheaper than Gmail, depending on the service.
How do I open several shops for different clients?
One email per shop, one Seller Center account per client, each with that client's own documents and bank account. That keeps orders and payouts separate and makes a handover simple when the contract ends.
How long does Seller Center approval take?
That is up to TikTok Shop's review, and OTPGmail has no figure for it. A complete application, with sharp documents whose details match the bank account, avoids the most common reasons for rejection.
