Vinted Sign Up With Google: Which Gmail You Need
Vinted lets you create an account in four ways: with an email address, or with Google, Facebook or Apple. "Continue with Google" is the quickest. It is also the one that confuses people, because it needs more than an email address. This guide explains what the button needs, which Gmail works, and how to keep the account once it exists.
Short answer: the Google button needs a Google account that you can sign in to: your own Gmail, or a short-lived Gmail bought on OTPGmail, which comes with its password. A bought Gmail lasts from tens of minutes to a few hours, depending on the type, so sign in to Vinted right away; if you keep the account, move it to an email you keep while the Gmail still works. A rented inbox cannot use the button at all; it fits the plain email sign-up, where Vinted's code shows on your order page.
What "Continue with Google" does on Vinted
When you press the button, Google asks which account to use and whether to share your name and email address with Vinted. Vinted then creates your account from that Google identity. You do not set a Vinted password at this point.
That has a consequence most people miss. According to Vinted's help centre, an account registered with Google is logged into with Google, not with an email and password. Your Vinted account therefore depends on the Google account behind it. If you lose access to that Google account, you lose the Google route into Vinted, together with your listings, messages and sales history behind it.
Vinted runs in the UK, Ireland and much of Europe, and is opening in the US. If your country is not on Vinted's list, no email address changes that.
What Vinted's terms ask of your email
Vinted's terms allow one account per person. They ask you to verify your email address within seven days of signing up, or the account is not created; when you sign up with an email and a code, that is done right away. After sign-up, Vinted keeps using that address for orders, messages and security notices.
Put simply, Vinted keeps writing to the address on your account; you can change it later under Settings → Account settings. Keep that in mind when you read the options below.
Why a rented inbox cannot press the Google button
OTPGmail has two products, and they behave very differently here.
A rented inbox is a real @gmail.com or @icloud.com address for receiving a code or link. It comes with no password, and nobody signs in to it, so you cannot choose it in Google's window. It still works on Vinted, on the email route: you register with the address, and Vinted's confirmation email shows on your order page. It usually carries a 6-digit code; sometimes it is a message with a button. The Vinted rental page covers that route and its current delivery rate. A rented inbox receives mail only during the order period, so if you keep the account, change its email in Vinted's settings while the order still receives mail. For the email route step by step, read Vinted sign up with email and a code.
A short-lived Gmail account is different. You buy it outright and receive its password, so you can sign in to Google with it. Our guide on why Sign in with Google needs a Gmail you can log in to explains this split for any website.
Your options, side by side
| Option | Works with Continue with Google? | To keep the account long term | Main limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your own Gmail | Yes | Nothing extra to do | None beyond your own account's security |
| A short-lived Gmail bought on OTPGmail | Yes, while it lasts | Move it to an email you keep while the Gmail works | Lasts tens of minutes to a few hours; a lock cuts the Google route into Vinted |
| Email sign-up with a rented inbox | No, it is the email route | Change the email while the order receives mail | The inbox receives mail only during the order period |
All three routes lead to an ordinary Vinted account. With a bought Gmail, sign in to Vinted straight after delivery; with a rented inbox, type the code while the order is open.
Using a short-lived Gmail with Continue with Google
Here is what you are buying. A short-lived Gmail account is a real @gmail.com account with its password, so you can pick it in Google's window on Vinted. Lifetimes are short and depend on the type; each type's description on the buy page says what to expect. When the Google account stops working, Vinted's Google login stops with it, so sign in to Vinted right away and finish your setup in the same session.
If you plan to keep the Vinted account, read Vinted's help centre before you start, including how accounts created with Google log in. Changing the email means confirming from the current address first, so do it while the Gmail still works, ideally in that first session.
Two types exist:
- Used on a few services: delivered with a quick login link for a desktop browser, or with login cookies and a "Read inbox" button, depending on the batch.
- Fresh, never used on any service: email and password only, signed in through the Gmail app on a phone. Its stock is shown on the buy page.
If you buy one, sign in at once: the warranty applies only to the first successful sign-in, and only within 2 hours of purchase. When that first attempt fails, send your order ID to support for a replacement account or a refund to your balance, depending on stock. Once you are in, a later lock is your risk. Google may also ask for a captcha or an extra check, which OTPGmail cannot solve for you. The first-login warranty guide has the details.
After you sign up: verify, then check your way back in
- Confirm your email. Vinted requires every member to verify their email address. The email usually carries a 6-digit code, sometimes a button instead; you can send it again from Settings → Security → Send confirmation email.
- Read how your login works. Vinted's help centre explains how accounts created with Google log in. Check it before you rely on any Google account for the long term.
- Change the email the way Vinted describes. Under Settings → Account settings, Vinted first sends a confirmation to your current address, valid for 24 hours. Without access to that address, it asks for an ID document and a selfie.
- Use your own phone number if Vinted asks. Vinted may ask some accounts to confirm a phone number. That is a separate SMS step that OTPGmail does not handle, and it should be your number.
Google login not working, or "email already taken"
- "Vinted account Gmail not working": choose the same Google account you registered with. An account created with Google does not open with an email and password.
- The Google account itself is locked: that can only be solved with Google, through its own account recovery. With a bought short-lived Gmail, a lock after your first successful sign-in is outside the warranty, and the Vinted account behind it may stay out of reach.
- "Email already taken": an older Vinted account already uses that address. Log in with the method it was created with, or reset the password by email, as Vinted's help centre describes.
- The Google window closes or repeats: try again in a desktop browser where you are signed in to just that one Google account.
Personal or business account?
Vinted allows one standard account per person. If you sell as a business (a sole trader, a company or a non-profit in a country Vinted lists), Vinted Pro is the account type meant for you, with its own terms. Check Vinted's Pro pages before you register a shop. OTPGmail does not help with second accounts, accounts that Vinted has suspended, or buying and selling accounts. Follow Vinted's terms; OTPGmail is not responsible for misuse.
Frequently asked questions
Can I sign up to Vinted without a Gmail account?
Yes. You can register with an email address, either one you already own or a rented OTPGmail inbox that shows Vinted's code on your order page, or with Facebook or Apple. Continue with Google is only one of the options.
Can I use a rented Gmail for Vinted's Continue with Google?
No. A rented inbox has no password, so you cannot sign in to Google with it. It works on the email route, where Vinted sends a confirmation email (usually a 6-digit code), during the order period. For the Google button, buy a short-lived Gmail on the buy page.
How do I keep a Vinted account created with a short-lived Gmail?
Sign in to Vinted right away, then move the account to an email you keep while the Gmail still works: under Settings → Account settings, Vinted confirms the change at the current address first. The Gmail lasts from tens of minutes to a few hours, depending on the type, and Vinted's Google login depends on it.
How do I change my email address on Vinted?
Go to Settings → Account settings and follow Vinted's steps. Vinted confirms the change from your current address first, then asks you to confirm the new one, so choose an address you will keep.
Does Vinted work in every country?
No. Vinted runs in the UK, Ireland and much of Europe, and is opening in the US. If your country is not supported, the app will not let you register, whatever email you use.
